what is Jack the Ripper Experience?

The Jack the Ripper Experience is an immersive and interactive event, delivered as part of Battle of the Barristers, a courtroom simulation that explores real crimes through structured decision-making and analysis. Hosted at the historic Guildhall York, the experience invites guests to step into one of history’s most infamous unsolved cases, moving beyond a traditional talk or lecture to actively engage with evidence, interpretation, and judgement under pressure.

Where was it?

The Jack the Ripper Experience took place at the historic Guildhall York, nestled in the heart of the city centre.

The Main Hall provided an atmospheric setting for the event, where guests were drawn into the case from the very beginning. The experience opened with a thought-provoking psychopath test, sparking conversation and setting the tone for an evening of intrigue and investigation.

As part of the Battle of the Barristers format, attendees were placed at the centre of the decision-making process, working through real evidence, weighing competing narratives, and forming conclusions in the face of uncertainty. The courtroom-style simulation encouraged discussion and challenge, allowing guests to explore how judgement can be influenced by pressure, perspective, and interpretation.

The versatile space supported a fully immersive experience, transforming the room into an environment where guests were not just observers, but active participants in the case. Feedback from attendees highlighted how much they valued being part of the experience rather than sitting on the sidelines, with many describing it as a unique and engaging event.
