Weddings at The Guildhall

Reserve your chosen date with us, we will hold this for 14 days whilst you contact the York City Registry Office to book your date/time with them. Once everything is sorted with the register office, come back to us to confirm the key details. We will need both of your full names, contact numbers and home address(s) in order to draw up the contract. Our finance administrator will be in touch to explain the deposit and payments part, and issue a payment request. (We strongly advise that you take out wedding insurance, ideally before signing any contracts and making any payments - More on this in a separate FAQ) The contract is issued electronically via Docusign and is only valid once we have received the £2,000 deposit. Congratulations, you’re now ready to send out your Save the Date’s!

While insurance isn’t mandatory, it can provide essential financial protection when you’ve poured your heart, soul, and savings into your wedding day.

If suppliers don’t fulfill their contracts, if you’re left liable for any damages, or if plans need to change due to circumstances outside of your control, insurance acts as a welcome safety net in exchange for a relatively small investment.

Once you have made your initial booking to secure your date with us, you can press on with finishing your Pinterest board!

If we don’t hear from you before, we will make contact 6 months out to discuss your progress so far. We will invite you to a Crucial Details meeting to discuss menu choice, floral and music information, signage requirements etc. 3 months prior to the big day. Final details including guest numbers and dietary information must be provided to your coordinator no less than 8 weeks out, as we will also arrange a Final Details meeting to be held at this time to ensure we’re both in agreement of all the confirmed details. You are then free to enjoy a relatively stress-free run up to your big day.
