what is IMMERSE: Heritage – Four Wheel Drive?
Four Wheel Drive creates bespoke, ‘off-road’ theatrical experiences. They craft live, performance-based moments tailored to client’s unique visions and aspirations. Injecting the vibrant energy of live theatre into spaces and events with purpose.
Where was it?
The event, IMMERSE: Heritage, took place in the council chambers of The Guildhall York.
York Conferences & Events and York Science Park supported Four Wheel Drive in the creation of their immersive theatre piece surrounding the life and death of Margaret Clitherow.
The project’s development was informed by the Council Chamber, inspired by the space and its connection to the historic overseeing of the city of York.
The Chamber has been fitted with modern voting equipment for the use of City of York Council. Our Events Coordinators provided technical support to the Four Wheel Drive creative team, enabling them to use the system as part of the immersive theatrical experience.
The YCE team hosted the creative team at the Guildhall to run rehearsals, writing sessions and presentations as the show developed.
Testimonial from Four Wheel Drive
We’ve used the council chambers of the Guildhall to develop a site-specific, immersive piece of theatre. The space is beautiful, and offered the perfect location to bring local history to life for our piece; The Trial of Margaret Clitherow.
Inviting audiences into the space for a presentation of our R&D process allowed them to have an exclusive look at the space, and experience a first-look at our attempt to bring history to life through immersive theatre.
